ELA, LAB, CC.OO. and UGT demand wage increases and better conditions, and denounce the “inaction” of employers despite the “successful” day of partial strikes on June 1.
All trade unions with representation in the sector of the Bizkaia hospitality, ELA, LAB, CC.OO. and UGT have declared two days of strike before the next one days 29 and 30 June. The strikes, under the motto ‘No Tour without an agreement’takes place on the eve of Large Department of Euskadi from the Tour de France.
During a press conference held this afternoon in Bilbao, the union troops complained “the immobility” of the “irresponsible” Bizkaia Hospitality Association, which “remains deaf to the demands of the workers in the sector”. The unions countered the Biscay employers’ refusal to negotiate with those of the Gipuzkoa or Álava employers – an agreement has been reached in the Gipuzkoan area and they are negotiating it in Alava.
He last June 1, the sector staged a day of partial strikes, which the unions describe as “successful”. As on that occasion, with these two strikes, the unions will demand a “dignified” deal, with wage increases and labor improvements.
“We are prosecuting no salary increase since January 2020. In this time we suffered the total ERTEs then the partial ones and we’ve seen how in this time the CPI is up more than 12% in this time our salaries 0 the industry prices are up more than 15% , our 0 wages”, they denounce.
In his opinion, the companies in the sector “intend to increase their profit margins”, and do so “at the expense of the working class”, so that it is the last to “end pay the covid bill”.
