Tensions have reportedly existed in the family for some time, and now the situation in the beautiful Irdning-Donnersbachtal has escalated. A remote farm was the scene of a knife attack on Wednesday afternoon. The 40-year-old son was visiting his parents and initially began verbally arguing with his parents. But it cannot remain that way.
Around 1:30 p.m., the 40-year-old took a kitchen knife and inflicted several stab and cutting wounds on his 66-year-old father. The desperate mother (68) then called the emergency services.
Father suffered life-threatening injuries
Police officers who were the first to arrive at the farm were able to provide emergency care to the injured man. The man was then taken to Rottenmann State Hospital by rescue helicopter and underwent emergency surgery. His life was in danger, but his condition now appears stable.
The son had barricaded himself on the top floor of the house and was arrested by special forces. His mental state is questionable and therefore he has not yet been interviewed. The victim has also not yet been able to make a statement about the events of the crime. More detailed investigations are now being launched under the direction of the Niklasdorf Division of the State Criminal Investigation Department.
