The leaders of the G-7 (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States) have committed ban import of Russian oil at the end of the remote summit held this Sunday, according to the closing statement from the White House.
Leaders will “commit to” phase out dependency of Russian energy, including by phasing out or banning Russian oil imports,” the text reads.
“We will make sure that in a timely and orderly mannerand in a way that gives the world time to obtain alternative supplies,” the statement added.
G7 leaders will also commit to taking steps to ban or prevent the provision of key services on which Russia depends. “This will reinforce Russia’s isolation in all sectors of its economy,” the text read again.
