A driver (38) caught a pedestrian at the zebra crossing in Salzburg-Itzling at the end of March. She later died in hospital. The reason was lack of care. In court, the man now showed remorse.
It was March 27: a woman from Salzburg (82) was just crossing the zebra crossing at the intersection of Itzlinger Hauptstrasse and Kirchenstrasse when a Serbian driver (38) hit the pedestrian. The force of the impact knocked the woman onto the hood. Hours later, she succumbed to her injuries. Well, on Thursday the driver, who lives in Salzburg, had to answer for the fatal traffic accident in the Salzburg district court. “He made a confession and also showed remorse,” explains Stefan Rieder of Weißer Ring, lawyer for the victim’s family. Accident expert Gerhard Kronreif, on behalf of the judiciary, determined that a lack of attention was the cause of the accident: “If the motorist had better observed the protective route area, the accident could have been avoided,” the report said.
He received three months’ probation for manslaughter. The victim’s family received 2,000 euros.
