A traffic accident on the Hahntennjochstrasse in Imst came to a sad end on Friday afternoon: for a 54-year-old motorcyclist from Germany, all help came too late.
The German was on his way from Reutte to Imst on Hahntennjochstraße at around 3 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle in a right turn in the municipality of Imst. According to police, he may have fallen on the sodden road, after which he slid head-on into the oncoming car of a 58-year-old resident.
The man suffered serious head injuries in the accident. Attempts to resuscitate by the emergency doctor were unsuccessful, the 54-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
Road closed for 3.5 hours
The driver and her passenger were not injured in the collision and there was significant damage to the engine and car. Hahntennjochstraße remained closed during the rescue operation and accident investigation. Apart from short interruptions, it was completely closed for 3.5 hours.
