The theft of an ATM card in the Krems district took a curious turn. The wanted criminal was the – heavily drunk – owner himself.
A woman from Kamptal was very shocked when she noticed that she no longer had her bag with her. In addition, several purchases had been made with the debit card in it. The alleged victim of a sneaky theft immediately reported the incident to the police.
The woman repeatedly emphasized that she did not know what had happened to her wallet. The truth then left even experienced detectives speechless.
Video surveillance solved the “criminal case”.
Because during the investigations they also viewed the video recordings at the machine, where the debit card was allegedly abused six times. And who was in it? The owner herself. The recordings clearly showed how she bought various alcoholic drinks there while drunk. Since she apparently couldn’t remember and had lost her bag, she thought she had been robbed.
“There is certainly no criminal offense here,” said the police.
