Twelve hectares a day – land use is rising to new record highs

Date:

According to the WWF, the loss of valuable land in Austria has reached alarming proportions! It has increased to twelve hectares per day.

After a temporary decrease, pasture grazing increased again in 2022. This worrying development shows the fatal failure of politics. “Minister of Agriculture Norbert Totschnig must urgently stop the development of our country,” demands WWF expert Simon Pories before the regional planning summit in Vienna on Monday.

“Handle it responsibly”
According to Greenpeace, the loss, including new forest roads, is as much as 13 hectares per day. Hail insurance executive and ground rescuer from the very beginning, Dr. Kurt Weinberger brought Cardinal Schönborn aboard Noah’s Ark. His warning: “Soil that is vital to humans and animals is lost. For the seed to thrive, it needs sun, rain and fertile soil. This foundation of life is too cemented. We need to be more responsible with creation.”
