An attacker is said to have attacked people indiscriminately in several restaurants in the New Zealand city of Auckland – including with an axe. Three victims were injured, some seriously.
An eyewitness told Radio New Zealand that the man was carrying several weapons and a stick in addition to the axe. The alleged perpetrator has been arrested according to the information.
The attacks occurred around 2 a.m. (local time) in the suburb of Albany. According to the New Zealand Herald newspaper, the floor in the bars was partially covered in blood. The police cordoned off the area around the affected restaurants and tried to clarify the course of events and the background. Auckland on the North Island is the largest city in the Pacific state.
