Again and again Hunter Biden. The son of US President Joe Biden has admitted to committing a tax violation to avoid further legal consequences. It is not the first time that he asks his father for an explanation.
US President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has pleaded guilty to a tax case. That’s according to court documents released Tuesday in Washington. As the New York Times reports, the confession is part of a deal with the US Justice Department.
The president’s son therefore agrees to a suspended sentence and can thus avoid a prosecution for illegal possession of weapons.
Hunter Biden allegedly made false statements about his drug use when he bought a gun. An indictment in this case would have been extremely embarrassing for the ruling US Democrats, who are campaigning for stricter gun laws.
Incorrect tax information in 2017 and 2018
The financial crimes that Hunter Biden pleads guilty to are much more innocent. He would have made false statements in the tax returns for the years 2017 and 2018.
The president’s 53-year-old son had already been a burden to Joe Biden during the 2020 election campaign, who is running for another term next year. Trump caused a sensation at the time with alleged revelations about Hunter Biden’s business activities in Ukraine and China.
His involvement with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma was particularly successful. Hunter Biden was given a seat on the board of directors there in 2014, while his father Joe, then vice president of the US, was responsible for US Ukraine policy.
Hunter Biden as Pablo Picasso?
Recently, Hunter Biden’s art deals attracted attention after a New York gallery owner said the latest artwork by the president’s son was worth between $55,000 and $225,000. The Republicans in the US House of Representatives then demanded information about the anonymous buyer of Biden’s artwork because they suspected illegal activities.
After all, Hunter Biden is “not Pablo Picasso,” wrote Republican chairman of the Key Committee on Oversight and Reform James Comer. Hunter Biden had his first exhibition at Georges Bergès Gallery in New York in November 2021. The “New York Times” wrote at the time that it was definitely more than an amateur’s work. But the exhibition of Biden’s abstract art should not make anyone green with envy.
