His frenzied drive through the center of Salzburg caused fear and terror on Monday. The next day, the driver (33), who was also under the influence of drugs during the chase, showed remorse. Now the kicker of the House of Commons is in custody.
It was a crazy ride that a 33-year-old made on Monday afternoon in the center of the city of Salzburg. From the Salzachgässchen over the quay promenade, the Müllnersteg and over the Kurgarten, every football player raced from the lower house. He had previously ignored a police check. Some passers-by had to jump aside. One person was slightly injured. The driver, who was also under the influence of drugs (cocaine and cannabis), was only stopped by a police car at a bus stop in Schrannengasse.
The driver was silent when questioned
According to the police report, six officers were injured as a result of the collision and during the arrest – the driver was barefoot and without a T-shirt and was extremely aggressive. The patrol car was a total loss. He remained silent during the interrogation and let his lawyer Kurt Jelinek say he was sorry. The public prosecutor has requested that the 33-year-old be taken into custody.
This was then imposed on him on Wednesday, Jelinek confirmed to the “Krone”. Reason: risk of escape and committing a crime.
