End point for trucks – GPS odyssey: instead of Belgium to the Brandenberger Tal

Date:

Trust is good, verification is better! A truck driver from Belarus will probably follow this motto very closely in the future. The truck driver actually wanted to go to Belgium – but blindly trusted his navigation system. Eventually he ended up in the Tyrolean Brandenberger Tal. And that was the last stop there.

Not again, the members of the volunteer fire brigade Aschau/Brandenberg must have thought on Wednesday afternoon. It wasn’t the first time a truck had strayed onto the narrow road in the Brandenberg Valley, far from the main transit routes.

As a measure, a traffic sign was even installed at the time. Apparently even that is not enough.

Truck with 23 tons of cargo
Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday evening, the fire brigade was alerted for a rescue operation of a truck. “It was finally found on site that a truck with a trailer with a load of 23 tons got stuck in a bend near a bridge,” said the fire service.

The truck driver from Belarus had followed his navigation system and ended up in this predicament. “His actual destination would have been Belgium”, the Floriani disciples know. Incidentally, the truck could no longer be “liberated” and towed away in the evening. The rescue took place on Thursday.
