Eurozone inflation falls to 5.5% in June, the lowest since February 2022

Year-on-year inflation in the Eurozone has fallen six tenths in June to 5.5%, the lowest level since the beginning of the war in Ukraine in February last year, according to preliminary data published by Eurostat this Friday.

The rate chains like this eight months of declinesfrom the 10.6% maximum it reached last October, and is below the 5.9% it reached at the end of February 2022 after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

However, the rate of Underlying inflationwhich excludes the effect of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco because they are the most volatile and serve as a reference for the European Central Bank in setting its monetary policy, has risen by one-tenth to the 5.4%.

According to data from the municipal statistics office, Spain stands in June as the second EU country with the lowest harmonized rate (1.6%)at the same level as Belgium and only above Luxembourg (1.0%).
