On Friday morning, a fatal motorcycle accident occurred on the B96 near Teufenbach-Katsch (Murau district) in Styria. The cause of the accident is the subject of an ongoing investigation.
A 59-year-old Upper Austrian drove his motorcycle towards Murau around 10 a.m. At kilometer 26.1 of the road, the man drove into a car driving in front of him for reasons that are still unclear. The 59-year-old fell and collided with an oncoming car from the Netherlands.
Autopsy should shed some light
The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident. The public prosecutor’s office in Leoben ordered the autopsy of the body and an order from an accident expert. The investigation is being carried out by the Scheifling Police Inspectorate. The B96 was closed to all traffic for about two hours. Due to the arrival of traffic to the Formula 1 event in Spielberg, there was a considerable traffic jam.
