The young man who was killed by a gunshot from a police officer in France will be buried on Saturday

Date:

The footage of the incident, captured by witnesses, sparked strong outrage in the country, which has degenerated into riots, especially in the working-class neighborhoods of major cities and in the Paris metropolitan area.

The young man Nahel M. killed by a police officer’s gunfire while trying to flee a police check, will be buried on Saturday in Nanterre, the town on the outskirts of Paris where he lived and where the events took place. After the accident have been there several riots across France to report the facts.

“We must continue to accompany this family, this mother who is going to bury her son,” said the mayor of Nanterre, Patrick Jarry, in statements to the press this Friday after a meeting with the prime minister, Élisabeth Borne, in Paris.

Jarry admitted that there is a sense of it “injustice” who reigns in many places in his city and in others, not only because of the death of the 17 years oldbut also because of socio-economic inequalities.

But he also underlined the “sadness” and “desolation” of the inhabitants because of the “violence and destruction” that have been taking place for three days.

When asked if it was necessary to declare a state of emergency, the mayor was cautious and asked to “get out of this spiral of violence together” and engage in a “logic of de-escalation”.

Riots in France

they already are more than 1000 people arrested the last few days at the riots in France. French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin today confirmed 270 arrests in the riots that took place in the early hours of Friday night, many of them in Marseille (south), where reinforcements were sent.

The local media have also reported serious incidents in other cities, such as Toulouse, Lyon or Nanterre.

This last town on the outskirts of Paris is where young Nahel died last Tuesday at the hands of a police officer, who unleashed this wave of violent incidents.

For tonight, the fourth consecutive riot in France, the government has taken to the streets 45,000 police officers with a reinforced device that includes the deployment of light armored vehicles of the Gendarmerie.

The previous night, arrests rose to 875 and nearly 300 police officers were injured, though none seriously.

“Responsibility”

On Friday morning, a crisis meeting was held under the leadership of the president Emmanuel Macronwho, in a later appearance, asked the parents for “responsibility” so that their children would not participate in the riots.

Macron justified this call by noting that a third of people arrested in the riots are minors, and also urged the platforms that manage social networks to take their share of the responsibility.
