A witness in the municipality of Preitenegg (Carinthia) noticed a car involved in an accident on Sunday morning and alerted the emergency services. The driver could only be found dead.
“The car must have gone off the road on a sharp bend and over the guardrail,” said Christian Kriegl, commander of FF Preitenegg. It then flipped over, throwing the male driver out and into the adjacent field. Apparently, the man had returned during the night from Styria, where his family lives. The accident happened around 04:00 in the morning.
Car landed on 62 year olds
According to the police, it concerns a 62-year-old Preitenegger who died in the accident on Hebalm Landesstraße in Oberpreitenegg. “Unfortunately, the car ended up on the man who was probably not wearing a seatbelt when he flipped over.” The fire service lifted the wreckage, but all help came too late for the 62-year-old.
Whether alcohol was involved can only be determined after an autopsy. The next of kin will be contacted. Ambulances and 35 troops from FF Preitenegg, Twimberg, Bad St. Leonhard and St Oswald/Kloster with a total of six vehicles were present at the scene of the accident.
