A terrible accident happened on Sunday in the Swiss canton of Appenzell Ausserhoden, not far from the Austrian border. A man ran off the road with his Porsche and fell down a slope. Any help came too late for the 54-year-old.
Shortly after 11 a.m., a 54-year-old man was driving his Porsche from Urnäsch towards Schwägalp when he lost control on the exit of a gentle right-hand bend. The sports car swerved to the right of the road, crashed through a wooden fence and tore down a steep embankment.
As a result, the Porsche rolled over and over again and finally came to a stop about 40 meters under the road between trees. The man was trapped in his car and had to be freed by firefighters. Despite immediate rescue measures being taken, the 54-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
