The EU is sending a clear signal to the Kremlin in Moscow by establishing a center to detect aggression against Ukraine.
Europe is determined to bring President Vladimir Putin and other leaders of Russia to the wharf. Because of the massacres in Bucha and other Ukrainian cities, because of thousands of civilians killed, tortured and abused, because of thousands of kidnapped children.
The prosecution of war crimes took a decisive step forward on Monday: the international center for the prosecution of aggression against Ukraine was established in The Hague. The agency is now tasked with collecting evidence for a possible trial of those responsible for the invasion of Ukraine and preparing charges against suspected perpetrators.
Von der Leyen: “Hold Putin and accomplices to account”
Located at the European judicial authority Eurojust, the facility brings together prosecutors from Ukraine, the EU, the US and the International Criminal Court. The special tribunal on Russia’s offensive war against Ukraine, which the EU is seeking, is drawing ever closer. “We will do everything we can to hold Vladimir Putin and his accomplices accountable,” stressed Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
