The tragic accident in Vienna-Döbling, which killed a 15-year-old, still causes horror. However, it was not yet clear how the accident could have happened. The police have now released the first details.

Around 5 a.m., police officers in Vienna-Hernals wanted to stop the 15-year-old for a routine traffic check as part of their patrol duty. However, he ignored all stop signs and raced away at high speed towards Döbling. According to police spokeswoman Barbara Gass, he would have reached a speed of up to 140 km / h.

Run away from the police
Near the intersection of Krottenbachstraße and Gustav-Pick-Gasse, a second police car attempted to apprehend the youngster. But instead of stopping, he tried to go around the patrol car, lost control, crashed into a light pole and then into a parked car.

All three occupants of the Audi A4 were initially seriously injured. The police immediately rendered first aid. The 15-year-old later died of his injuries. He had no driver’s license.

License plates were reported stolen
The other two teens (16 and 17) were taken to hospital with serious injuries. One is currently in critical condition. The traffic accident department took over the investigation. According to ongoing investigations, the vehicle should not have been registered in traffic and the number plates mounted on the vehicle should have been reported stolen.
