On Tuesday evening in the Oberland, a day later in the Unterland! In the late afternoon, heavy storms again raged over parts of Tyrol. Streets, underpasses and cellars were flooded, especially in the Kitzbühel and Kufstein districts. The fire brigade had to turn out 16 times.
After a stuffy start on Wednesday afternoon, heavy thunderstorms from west to east with wind, heavy rain and hail. In municipalities such as Kirchbichl, Langkampfen and Mariastein, the sirens were wailing. After the first hailstones had already cracked from the sky around 3 p.m., Floriani-Jünger was called for water damage in underpasses and in buildings.
Tree ended up on the street
But individual missions were also reported in the rest of Tyrol. In Innsbruck, for example, a tree fell on the street and in Patsch a stream overflowed its banks. In the evening the situation calmed down again. There shouldn’t be any injuries.
Fernpass after hail almost like in winter
Heavy thunderstorms raged over parts of Tyrol on Tuesday. There was nothing like that about the Fernpass anymore. “It poured like cats and dogs. In addition, there was massive shouting,” an officer of the Nassereith police inspectorate said when asked by “Krone”. In some cases, the hail was compressed six to eight inches high. There was also a mudslide – thankfully not on the Fernpass road. But it was flooded in the chain mooring area. The road had to be completely closed from 5 p.m. to 7:25 p.m. On the side of the Ausserferner, traffic was diverted via Garmisch. Those coming from the other side had to avoid a large area via Kufstein or wait out the duration of the ban.
