The mountain rescuers in Styria’s Mürztal were on a big search today: Unfortunately, the 82-year-old, who had not come home from mushroom hunting, could not yet be found. The search will continue tomorrow.
Major search for an 82-year-old resident in Neuberg an der Mürz. He probably went out for mushrooms on Monday and never came home. On Tuesday evening, the rescuers were notified and they started a first search.
Operation lasted all day
The search was expanded on Wednesday: 33 mountain rescuers from the Mürztal area and 63 men and women from the region’s volunteer fire brigade were on duty all day. Four dog handlers with sniffer dogs were also involved in the search. In the extremely confusing forest area in and around the so-called Arzbach, all forest roads, hiking trails, hunting trails and alpine trails were searched – unfortunately all without success.
The search will continue on Thursday – including with a special dog squadron.
