The district of Tamsweg (Salzburg) had to contend with lightning strikes and heavy rainfall in the evening hours of yesterday Wednesday. The ground also moved.
Severe storms with heavy rainfall and lightning strikes demanded the emergency services in the Tamsweg district in the early evening hours on July 5, 2023. In the Rothenwand district of the municipality of Zederhaus, a small-scale fire started at an altitude of 1,400 meters in a forest area. A pile of branches and twigs caught fire from a lightning strike. The volunteer fire brigade of Zederhaus was able to intervene quickly and prevent the fire from spreading.
Around 7:30 p.m., the B95 in the Tamsweg municipal area had to be diverted due to a small debris flow. The heavy rainfall had loosened the top layer of the dike – earth and peat slid off. Mauterndorf’s road maintenance service took over the removal of the debris. The Tamsweg voluntary fire brigade took over the regulation of the two-way traffic and the clean-up work.
Transformer on Fire
The Floriani also came into action in Ramingstein. A lightning strike hit a transformer in the Trieblingstrasse area. Emergency services pulled out, cordoned off the area and set up fire protection for nearby bushes and bushes. The affected high-voltage lines have been disconnected from the grid and defective parts have been replaced.
Streams also occasionally overflowed their banks and clogged divers. In Kendlbruck-Dörfl even excavators and sewer cleaners had to be used to clear the passage. The mission of the Ramingstein Volunteer Fire Department was completed around midnight.
