A 290-meter cruise ship collided with a pier in the Port of San Francisco in California on Thursday. The passengers of the “Ruby Princess” escaped unhurt and the stern suffered significant damage on impact.
The ship was docked in San Francisco harbor early in the morning when the accident happened for unknown reasons. The collision caused significant damage to the port side of the stern.
Passengers suffered no damage
The more than 3,000 passengers were then able to leave the Princess Cruises cruise ship without any problems. No one was injured in the accident. The damage to the pier is still under investigation.
The “Ruby Princess” had just returned from a ten-day cruise in Alaska and was due to embark on another tour immediately. However, this is likely to be postponed.
