The Free Citizens’ Party sharply attacks the Polytechnic School in Bludenz, accuses the management of forcing students to attend an Islamic service and senses a scandal. The truth is much less excited.
“Brainwashing in schools in Vorarlberg”, “monstrosity”, “imposition of foreign religions”: all this could be read in a recent broadcast of the Free Citizens’ Party (FBP). The allegation was that students at the Polytechnic School in Bludenz were forced to participate in an Islamic service at the mosque.
FBP chairman Georg Palm notes an “active promotion of Islamization in our country” and even calls on the director of the education center to resign. When asked by “Krone”, the school said there was apparently something “misunderstood” here. In reality, the facts are slightly different from the FBP interpretation: At the beginning of the school year, an interdenominational service was held in a Catholic church. An imam was invited and also made a guest contribution to the religious celebration.
The invitation was followed by a re-invitation
Finally, according to the rules of courtesy, a return invitation to the mosque followed at the end of the school year. An interdenominational celebration was also held at the mosque, this time it was the Catholic priest who made a guest appearance while the Imam led the service. So much ado about nothing. By the way: no one was obliged to participate in the two celebrations. Those who did not want to come would have been taken care of at the school.
