Missing alpinists? – Two bodies discovered during a search on the Grossglockner

On the Großglockner, Austria’s highest mountain, two bodies were found on Monday morning during a search on the East Tyrolean side. The identities of the dead are not yet known, but they could be two missing climbers.

The bodies were discovered by the crew of the Tyrolean police helicopter Libelle, a spokesman said when asked by “Krone”. They were found on the East Tyrolean side of the Glockner massif.

As to the identity of the dead, the executive was unable to provide any information. But it is clear that two alpinists from Salzburg on the Großglockner have been missing since Sunday. Initially, a search was launched by the Salzburg side.

Since the identification has not yet been completed, it cannot yet be confirmed with certainty that these are actually the two missing persons from Salzburg.
