Terrible scenes played out in Manfredonia (Italy) on Wednesday. Two Romanian boys aged six and seven fell into an irrigation basin on a farm. The parents sounded the alarm, but all rescue attempts were in vain…
After a search of several hours, the fire brigade and divers recovered the lifeless bodies of the two Romanian boys, Italian media reported on Wednesday. They had previously fallen into a pool about ten feet deep on a farm in Manfredonia in southern Italy’s Adriatic region of Apulia. It is believed that the brothers gained access to the irrigation basin because they wanted to cool off from the heat.
Any rescue came too late
Alarms were raised by the distraught parents who found their children’s slippers on the edge of the pool. But any rescue came too late for the children. The operation lasted late into the night to recover the children’s bodies.
