The crazy ride of a 33-year-old in the center of Salzburg on June 26 caused fear and terror and injured six police officers. The House of Commons kicker was imprisoned for about two weeks because of the risk of committing a crime. The man was released on less strict terms on Tuesday.
The magistrate of the Salzburg Regional Court ordered the release in the course of a routine check of the detention. According to the police, the man was under the influence of cocaine and cannabis during the breakneck chase through the city center. When he was arrested, he would have behaved very aggressively and injured several officers.
Defense attorney Kurt Jelinek says of his client: “He reiterated how sorry he is. He did not want to endanger or injure anyone in any way.”
