Oberpullendorf district – smuggler arrested for tour to Germany

Date:

A man is said to have collected 3,000 euros for an illegal journey with six migrants from Nikitsch to Munich. However, this never happened – he was caught during a routine check in Burgenland.

Everything was precisely planned and prepared when a Romanian smuggler entered Austria in Deutschkreutz at dusk. He would pick up six refugees in Nikitsch in the hotspot district of Oberpullendorf and bring them to Bavaria via Salzburg.

24-year-old checked by the police
The driver (24) of a BMW with German license plates came across as suspicious to the Burgenland border guards, but the man managed to identify himself well. He was allowed to continue. Shortly afterwards, the BMW driver showed up in Nikitsch – and was routinely checked by the police.

“I want to pick up a friend, but unfortunately I’m lost,” said the Romanian behind the wheel. When asked, he was unable to provide either the address of the meeting point or the last name of the alleged friend, and as the conversation progressed he became increasingly mired in contradictions.

Romanian lives from smuggling
The alleged smuggler has since been arrested. Hours of research quickly confirmed the initial suspicion. The Romanian living in Germany will therefore probably finance his life with banned refugee transports.

drone in action
In the current case, he was ordered to collect six emigrants from Turkey and Afghanistan in Nikitsch and drive straight to Munich. This half-dozen is believed to have been one of 15 migrants spotted by a drone patrol in a wooded area near Nikitsch at almost the same time.

perpetrators arrested
The encounter with the smuggler never happened again. The evidence from the investigations was enough for the prosecution to order the 24-year-old perpetrator to be committed to Eisenstadt Prison. He is charged with commercial smuggling. He should have collected 3,000 euros for the trip to Munich.
