The night on Thursday was much quieter than previously feared with regard to storms in Tyrol – in contrast to other federal states. Unfortunately, there were still incidents. For example, in Roppen in the Imst district. A lightning strike caused problems with the drinking water supply there.
“Our drinking water plant was struck by lightning,” the community said. Disruptions in the water supply are to be expected.
“Our construction site team has been working for hours to restore the line. Nevertheless, we ask that drinking water be used sparingly until we can give everything safely,” emphasizes mayor Ingo Mayr van Roppen.
Storm operations in other states
On the night of Thursday, severe thunderstorms again passed through Austria – the states in the east and south were particularly affected. Numerous sirens were heard in Burgenland, Styria, Upper Austria, Carinthia and Salzburg. The powers are still in continuous use.
Few operations in Tyrol
In Tyrol, Thursday night was much quieter than Wednesday night with numerous operations. There were “only” about 20 missions across the country. The heavy rain has led to water leaks and blockages in some places, but unlike the night before, the wind did not cause any problems.
