265 offenses – “Scheibtruhen-Duo” arrested in Lower Austria

The so-called disc box gang, which had been up to mischief for months in Lower Austria and Burgenland, was arrested after intensive investigation. The duo, aged 45 and 47, have made a partial confession, according to police.

The two had broken into workshops, sheds and cabins in the countryside and stolen e-bikes and emergency generators, among other things. The items were eventually taken to a getaway vehicle on the group’s eponymous transporter.

Items carried off with Disk Chest
The suspect always worked in the same way from the end of October 2019 to the beginning of April. In the countryside, a car was parked at the edge of each village, after which you went through the back of the building to storage rooms and garages. The items stolen inside were then transported to the getaway vehicle using a window box found at the crime scene.

Sold 215 times in Lower Austria
In one night, the duo searched three to thirteen adjacent buildings in this way, the Lower Austria state police reported in a broadcast on Friday. They were assigned 215 offenses in Lower Austria and Burgenland. The two would have struck another 50 times in the Czech Republic.

High material damage
Goods worth more than 300,000 euros were seized. The damage caused was estimated at around 15,000 euros. The men were arrested on April 2 during an attempted burglary in the Wiener Neustadt district by agents of the Lower Austrian Criminal Investigation Department. The suspects were transferred to Korneuburg prison on the order of the public prosecutor’s office.
