A tourist from the Czech Republic found the lifeless body of an 89-year-old in Lake Erlauf on Friday. Unfortunately, the Styrian was beyond help.
Tragic accident Friday afternoon at the Erlaufsee in Mariazell. At around 1 p.m., a Czech tourist saw a body floating in the water near the shore. It concerned an 89-year-old man from the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district.
CPR was of no avail
The crew of a pleasure craft in the immediate vicinity was alerted and the rescue chain was set in motion. One of the first responders from the Red Cross of Mariazellerland immediately jumped into the water and, together with other first responders, pulled the lifeless person out of the lake.
Despite immediate resuscitation measures and the most intensive efforts of the emergency medical team of the Mariazellerland Red Cross, the 89-year-old could not be helped and the death had to be diagnosed at the scene.
The cause of death is currently unknown.
