Operation for the mountain rescuers and the ambulance helicopter in Matrei in Osttirol on Thursday! Because a footbridge was broken in a storm, father and daughter never returned to the starting point during a walk. Crossing the stream failed.
The incident happened around 5:15 p.m. Together with his 19-year-old daughter, a 50-year-old hiked from the “Alten Pragerhütte” in Matrei via the “Prager-Hüttenweg” in the direction of Innergschlöss. “When the hikers went back to the starting point, they noticed that the Gschlössbachsteg had been ripped away by the strong water current after a thunderstorm,” the police said.
Rescued by helicopter
It was not possible to cross the creek, so the father made an emergency call. The missing footbridge prevented the mountain rescuers from reaching the “stranded”. In the end, the duo were rescued by the emergency doctor’s helicopter. Both father and daughter were unharmed.
