Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been taken to a hospital near Tel Aviv, the government said. The 73-year-old is doing well but will undergo a medical examination, his office said Saturday.
According to media reports, Netanyahu had been taken to hospital from his private home due to “malaise”. According to reports, the conservative politician had momentarily lost consciousness.
Premier would have chest pain
As the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported, referring to hospital circles, Netanyahu is conscious and can walk on his own. The TV channel Channel 12 reported that the head of government was not sedated and could therefore continue to conduct his official business. He allegedly complained of chest pains before being admitted to hospital.
Netanyahu’s office said on Saturday that initial tests showed no abnormalities. Dehydration is believed to be the cause of Netanyahu’s discomfort. As his spokesman said, the doctors recommended further regular examinations.
