Two tragedies took place in the Salzkammergut on Saturday: within hours, the emergency services had to respond to a fatal forest accident and a fatal motorcycle accident.
A 78-year-old from Zell am Pettenfirst was engaged in forestry work in a wooded area on Saturday morning. When the neighbor drove past there around 11:30 a.m., he saw that the tractor was standing there alone and checked it out. He found the 78-year-old trapped under a rootstock. He immediately alerted the emergency services and provided first aid. The victim had to be freed by firefighters. Unfortunately, the emergency doctor was only able to determine the man’s death.
Passers-by immediately rendered first aid
A 50-year-old from Haag am Hausruck drove his car on Saturday around 2 p.m. on the B 153 in the municipality of Steinbach am Attersee in Weißenbachtal towards Bad Ischl. The man wanted to turn left onto a gravel road and reduced his speed. At that moment, a motorcyclist coming from behind, driven by a 25-year-old from Seewalchen am Attersee, overtook.
The 25-year-old crashed into the car with his motorcycle and suffered life-threatening injuries. Casual passers-by immediately rendered first aid. Unfortunately, all help came too late and the 25-year-old died of his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.
