On Saturday there were several alpine missions in Carinthia. In Bodental, the mission proved to be “extremely difficult”. Two helicopters were requested.
A woman from Lower Austria suffered serious head injuries during a mountain trip in the area of the Niedere Gradenscharte, in the municipality of Großkirchheim. The woman was injured in a fall. The crew of the rescue helicopter Alpin 6 took the 34-year-old to the Tauernklinkum in Zell am See in Salzburg.
Difficult recovery
Another alpine mission that proved difficult took place in the Bodental near Ferlach. “On the Stinzesteig, a woman from the Klagenfurt Land district slipped and injured her leg,” says Christian Arnusch, operations manager of the Ferlach mountain rescue service. Two helicopters had to be used for the rescue. “The C11 could not fly further due to the wind, a more powerful helicopter had to be requested.” The woman was eventually rescued by the crew of the police helicopter Libelle with dew recovery and taken to the Ogrisalm. There she was transferred and flown to UKH by C11.
Eleven members of the Ferlach Mountain Rescue Service, the crew of the two helicopters, the police and the rescue team were deployed.
