In Pennsylvania, at least five people have been killed by torrential rain. The victims were swept off the road in their car. Two small children aged nine months and two years are still missing, the mother is among the dead.
According to Tim Brewer of the local fire department, about 17 inches of rain fell in less than an hour. In his 44-year career, he has never seen anything like it. “We’re treating this as a rescue operation, but we’re pretty sure we’re in rescue mode right now,” he said, referring to those missing. The area is difficult to access.
