Tips for alpinists – “mountain victims” lay in a hammock on the Traunstein

Date:

Well-intentioned is the opposite of well-done: the distress call from a concerned skipper on Lake Traunsee led to a rescue operation with a curious ending. Because the alleged mountain victim of the Traunstein did not want to be rescued, but wanted to lie in peace in his hammock – albeit in an unusual place. The “Krone” also spoke to the head of the Upper Austrian mountain rescue service about what makes sense in the current heat and what doesn’t.

The plan to spend the night alone in a hammock on the Traunstein, away from the well-trodden mountain paths, was suddenly interrupted. Mountain rescuers and a police officer stood on the “home mountain of Upper Austria” for a 26-year-old Vöcklabrucker who had felt at home on a ledge. The police helicopter had also taken off to rescue the alleged mountain victim. “I don’t need help or rescue,” said the Czech native.
