Donostia-San Sebastián hosted the Mondragon 2023 Congress this afternoon, which took place in the Kursal. A total of 650 delegates representing all cooperatives integrated into the Corporation have been convened at this meeting.
The results confirm that the majority of co-ops managed to overcome “a complicated exercise with flying colors”. Said the President of the Corporation, Inigo Ucinhas emphasized the positive evolution of the group “in a difficult context, completely determined by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its consequences on the markets”.
The behavior of the group in the first five months of 2023 it remains positive, although there are signs of contraction in the markets. Mondragon’s evolution in the first five months continues to rise, with revenue growth of 6.5% over the previous year.
New Knowledge Department
On the other hand, another highlight of today’s congress was the proposal for Mondragon’s “Structure of Knowledge Division”, to integrate into a single division and promote cooperation between all its entities: educational centers (Arizmendi Ikastola, Politeknika Txorierri and Lea Artibai), Mondragon Unibertsitatea (with its three faculties: engineering, business and humanities) and technology centers (Ikerlan, MIK, Lortek and Leartiker).
In short, another step that contributes to strengthening Mondragon’s “ecosystem” concept. The new division, consisting of 11 entities, with nearly 2000 people and close to a budget 150 million euro, aims to “develop a more powerful socio-business project in the field of knowledge that also makes it possible to face more complex challenges in the future”.
