The cycling world is once again in shock – because the 1st stage of the Junior Tour in Upper Austria was overshadowed by a serious crash. An Italian cyclist, the 17-year-old Italian Jacopo Venzo, fell during the descent of the Mistelbacher Berg and had to stop the race because of the rescue operation and then stop it.
Helicopter to hospital
The injured athlete, who had fallen without outside influence, was immediately treated by the race doctors and then flown by rescue helicopter to Kepler University Hospital.
Now followed the sad confirmation that the young cycling talent has died of his injuries.
