The inventor of the bagless vacuum cleaner is launching a new cordless vacuum cleaner: the Dyson Gen5detect Absolute. At first glance, the futuristic weapon against all kinds of dust and dirt is reminiscent of a laser cannon from a science fiction movie – and the device does indeed have some futuristic extras on board. The new reference in wireless vacuuming? We tried.
To pass as a laser cannon, the Gen5detect really only lacks a trigger: while previous versions of the popular Dyson vacuum cleaners used a trigger to turn them on and off, the new high-end model now has classic push buttons on the top of the unit to turn the cleaner on or into suction mode.
This may come at the expense of the feel of a laser cannon, but there are advantages to the handling: you don’t have to hold the switch down all the time while vacuuming. And there is another peculiarity of the Gen5detect that we have not seen in any other cordless vacuum cleaner.
