Dramatic scenes at Pichlinger See (Upper Austria)! A 50-year-old father, who wanted to save his daughter himself, was in danger of drowning. But a 29-year-old from Asten reacted correctly and saved the man with his SUP board.
The 50-year-old from Krems wanted to swim to his daughter, as she was already halfway to Lake Pichling with her swimming ring. He was afraid she wouldn’t find her way back, he later told police.
Noticed drama playing volleyball
But halfway across the lake, he had lost his strength. He screamed for help, beating wildly. A 29-year-old from Asten noticed this, who was playing volleyball on the bank with his girlfriend. He immediately grabbed his stand-up paddle (SUP) and rode over to the helpless man. Meanwhile, an elderly lady with a life preserver had rushed to help.
All saved
In the end, the 29-year-old man was able to rescue the man from the water with his stand-up paddle. The completely exhausted man received first aid from an emergency doctor on the bank and was taken to Kepler University Hospital. The man’s daughter was also rescued from the water.
