A 66-year-old Turkish national is currently on trial before the lay judge in Feldkirch. He allegedly sexually assaulted his girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter.
The accused pensioner denies the alleged acts. According to prosecutor Simon Mathis, the man was suspected three years ago of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s then 13-year-old daughter. It is said that the minor was attacked in his apartment in the lowlands just a few weeks after the mother met the pensioner.
Mother noticed nothing
According to the indictment, the suspect sneaked into the girl’s bedroom, undressed her and then sexually assaulted the victim. In retrospect, he would have lain quietly in his own bed to sleep. “I was cleaning up in the kitchen at the time and hadn’t noticed anything,” says the victim’s mother, who was called as a witness at the hearing on Tuesday.
The case only came to light last year when the woman checked the teen’s cell phone. In a chat, the girl confides in a good friend and writes that she was raped by her mother’s boyfriend at the time. The woman then confronts the 13-year-old about her shocking discovery and insists on notifying the police. It’s about the process.
Prosecutor Mathis also found the victim’s descriptions credible during interrogation and rejected further requests for evidence from lawyer Max-Benjamin Ellensohn. The trial was postponed. If found guilty, the formerly impeccable pensioner faces a prison sentence of six months to five years.
