A beautiful day in the mountains ended dramatically on Tuesday for an East Tyrolean family: the father (40) fell into a gully and was seriously injured, the daughter had to watch. It wasn’t the victim’s fault…
The resident (40) went hiking with his wife and three children from the Goldried Berggasthaus on an unmarked path to the Bunköpfl (2419m). According to inside information, the man led the way with his daughter when he grabbed a rock at around 12 o’clock at an altitude of about 2275 meters to hold on to and pull up slightly.
stone came loose
The rock came loose causing the 40-year-old to lose his balance, fall some 40 to 50 meters down a gully and eventually lie down with serious leg injuries. The mountain inn operator was able to observe the crash and initiate the rescue chain.
The victim was rescued by the rescue helicopter with the help of a rope and taken to the hospital in Lienz. The other family members were able to descend to the mountain inn on their own.
