woman locked up? – Suspicion not substantiated: husband released

Date:

In the sensational case of a German couple in eastern France, the French judiciary does not assume deprivation of liberty. The Public Prosecution Service currently does not believe in a criminal offense against the 53-year-old woman. Initially, investigations had been launched against the 55-year-old husband for possible rape, deprivation of liberty and torture.

The suspect was arrested on Monday in Forbach, near Saarland. His wife had previously called the German security forces. She has been held captive and abused by her husband since 2011. Police found the woman at the couple’s home, but officers found no clear evidence that the woman had been arrested. When questioned, she repeated her allegations. Her husband, on the other hand, spoke in police custody about an illness from which the 53-year-old had been suffering for some time.

Woman sick, diagnosis unknown
“All the findings that can be made during the investigation, especially on the spot, cannot yet support her statements, while they fully confirm the statements of her husband,” Saargemünd prosecutor Olivier Glady said on Tuesday. It is still unclear what disease the 53-year-old suffers from. The couple also reportedly failed to make a diagnosis.

At the beginning of the evening, the public prosecutor announced that the 55-year-old would be released from police custody on Tuesday.
