North Korea has made its first official statement about US soldier Travis King crossing the border from South Korea into North Korea. North Korean investigators concluded that King deliberately and illegally crossed the demarcation line to seek refuge in North Korea or a third country.
“During the investigation, Travis King confessed that he decided to come to the DPRK because he had bad feelings about inhumane treatment and racial discrimination in the US military,” state news agency KCNA reported Wednesday. The unequal American society had disillusioned him.
US soldier Travis T. King crossed the demarcation line between South and North Korea in July on a private visit with a tour group. According to US officials, he had crossed the border on purpose.
