Many NATO weapons – Ukraine throws the strongest brigade into battle

Date:

US experts have recently confirmed the successes of the Ukrainian army in its counter-offensive in the Zaporizhia region. This could also have something to do with the fact that Kiev has thrown into battle its probably strongest infantry brigade, which is equipped with both armored personnel carriers and main battle tanks from NATO stocks.

Specifically, it concerns the 82nd Air Assault Brigade, where about half of all Marder and Stryker infantry fighting vehicles and Challenger 2 main battle tanks are said to have landed. Stefan Korshak of the “Kiev Post” had already written in May in an analysis of the extraordinary capacity of this brigade. The units are able to advance quickly and secure conquered territory. According to the American think tank Institute of the Study of War, the first units of the brigade have already advanced to the city of Robotyne, where attempts are being made to break through the Russian front and advance to the Sea of Azov.

Brigade officially does not exist
Officially, the Ukrainian army has not yet confirmed the existence of the 82nd brigade. However, there were several references to this part of the armed forces in classified documents from the US Department of Defense that were leaked several months ago. The following figures emerged from this: The brigade had 40 German Marder-type infantry fighting vehicles and 90 American Stryker vehicles. These would also be supported by 14 British Challenger 2 tanks as the other two infantry vehicles could do nothing against Russian main battle tanks.

Several images have recently surfaced on social media showing the aforementioned NATO military vehicles near Robotyne. Of course, that still doesn’t prove the existence of the 82nd Brigade, but it’s more evidence. After all, the recordings come not only from Ukrainian military bloggers, but also from Russian war observers (see tweets below).

Minefields as a big problem
But even with these powerful weapons, the breakthrough will be extremely difficult. Because the Russian occupiers set up three lines of defense. The first, consisting of dense minefields, is already causing a lot of problems for Ukrainian troops.
