A suspected thief behaved unusually cooperatively in the center of Vienna on Wipplingerstrasse on Friday morning: After secretly connecting someone else’s mobile phone, the suspected offender returned the loot to the victim. He then waited with the owner of the mobile phone for the police to arrive, only to be arrested afterwards.
First, the 23-year-old suspect would have plugged the mobile phone that was on the table in a cafe terrace and then walked away. However, the owner was able to quickly locate his cell phone and stop the alleged thief. He was unusually cooperative and immediately returned the cell phone to the man – after which he and the victim waited for the police to arrive.
Slovak authorities are already investigating the perpetrators
“Police officers from the Laurenzerberg Police Inspectorate have secured tools and a broken bicycle lock belonging to the suspect, a 23-year-old Slovak national,” the officials said on Saturday. In addition, the detectives were able to determine that the Slovak authorities were already investigating the suspect for burglary.
The 23-year-old has been arrested.
