In July 2023, check-ins at hotel establishments in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) increased by 2.9% and the number of overnight stays by 4.9% year-on-year. By province, Álava recorded 58,425 arrivals and 108,703 overnight stays, 13.3% and 18.3% more than in July of the previous year. In Bizkaia, the growth was 2.3% in the case of admissions and 3.4% in that of overnight stays, with a total of 178,324 admissions and 348,400 overnight stays. The average stay in hotel establishments in the Basque Country during the month of July 2023 was 2.04 days, slightly more than the 2.00 days observed in the same month of the previous year. The average stay refers to the number of days travelers stay on average in each of the establishments where they stay and not the total length of their stay in the Basque Country.
The occupancy rate in July was 72.8% measured by beds and 82.0% measured by rooms. Compared to July 2022, the increases are 0.8 and 1.3 percentage points respectively.
The average daily rate (applied to a double room with bathroom on a room only basis) or ADR was 128.43 euros, an increase of 8.6% compared to July of the previous year. The ADR amounted to 165.37 euros in Gipuzkoa, 105.33 euros in Bizkaia and 88.53 euros in Álava. The differences are greater by capital, as the ADR reached 208.64 euros in San Sebastián, 116.12 euros in Bilbao and finally 76.14 euros in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
The RevPar or average revenue per available room in Euskadi hotel establishments was EUR 105.36 in July 2023, 10.3% higher than that obtained in the same month of the previous year.
