Heated Mind Dump – “Can’t Shoot the Klumpert at the Moon”

Date:

With a very clear choice of words, a gravel contractor tries to convince local residents: his planned landfill is necessary in the region – the building remains would be reused to the utmost anyway. What remains cannot simply disappear. However, the opponents are bringing the case before a ministry.

Florian Hengl, who wants to build a landfill in Limberg in the Hollabrunn district, is a bit annoyed. Because the protests of the citizens do not break down. On the contrary: they are now burying themselves in the legal matter and have analyzed the federal waste management plan in detail. “On page 113 it says that there is sufficient capacity for landfills in the medium term,” quotes Michael Eberle from the 500-page document.

Opponents complain to the federal government
On behalf of concerned citizens, he now sees responsibility with the federal government – a letter is already with the responsible ministry. “The fact is that society has long stopped looking at the recyclability of building materials. Despite everything, we now have recycling materials such as asbestos that have to be stored somewhere,” Hengl counters. “And as regionally as possible, and there is no possibility in the entire northern Waldviertel.”

Meanwhile, the readers of “Krone” have pointed out a landfill project near Strass in the Krems district, in the middle of the forest. Local boss Martin Leuthner reassured: “The empty gravel pit there is well suited, the storage is done under strict rules.”
