The Itsas Etxea Kofradia center in Donostia has made a positive balance of the catch volume. Despite this, he calls the sale price a “negative note”, the lowest recorded in Gipuzkoa in the past seven years.
The costal del bonito is nearing its end already consumed 78% of the allocated quota for this 2023. For its part, the Basque craft fleet has a positive balance of the volume of catches, although it indicates as “negative note” prices to whom the fish is paid.
And that’s it, as reported by the center It’s Etxea Kofradia from Donostia, the price is 25% lower than in the year 2022the lowest recorded in Gipuzkoa in the last seven years.
Nevertheless, Itsas Etxea has pointed out that the fisheries could be ready in two or three weeks after having already consumed a large portion of the allocated quota.
Currently the fleet works with live bait on short distances and therefore they can make short trips and return to offload the product to Euskadi markets.
For the towing fleet, on the other hand, the bonito is a bit further away this year, so the tides have to be longer.
