The Styrian fire brigade mourns the loss of three young comrades from Haus im Ennstal (21 and 23 years old). They died on Sunday evening in a tragic accident with an off-road vehicle.
When the news reached the public on Monday morning, the shock was deep: at 10:40 p.m., an all-terrain vehicle crashed on a gravel municipal road in Schladming. A 23-year-old was driving the vehicle, three other young men (21, 23 and 25 years old) were in the car.
The car crashed into steep terrain from 50 to 100 meters. Three people died at the scene of the accident, the 25-year-old from Schladming was able to free himself and called the emergency services. He was only slightly injured.
The firefighters mourn
The accident was particularly stressful for the emergency services deployed – including 65 firefighters. Because the three victims are themselves members of the voluntary fire brigade. Two of them in Weißenbach, one in Oberhaus.
The fire brigade association of the Liezen region expressed its sorrow: “The BFV Liezen mourns the loss of three of its comrades who died in a tragic traffic accident tonight.” On a black background it says: “In silent memory”.
